Dakota

A Tribute

Dakota

2005-2016

We said our goodbyes to Dakota on September 6, as a fast-moving and inoperable tumor had invaded her vena cava vein and started blocking the return of blood to her heart. We were fortunate to have some warning and enjoyed several days together living and loving.

This is a tribute to her life and the many people she touched. Somewhere there is a wedding album with her picture with the bridal party in Carmel, and she’s a star online in an asian tourist’s video at Old Faithful in Yellowstone Park. She was a “calendar girl” for an animal rescue in Pleasanton, and was seen in pictures with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

Thank you for bringing us your unconditional love.

We understand so well. And we are so sorry for your loss. Dakota was truly a beautiful pup. Your tribute is lovely and shows that Dakota was very fortunate to have been loved and cared for all her life. Because of you, she shared a lot of smiles! Our hearts are with you.

Big sister I miss you! I remember the day we met in the park. You came running up and greeted me while I was on a walk. That was the first time my mom and dad let me off the lease. We ran and played together. We didn't care weather it was hot or cold. We would rest side by side when we were tired. Sitting side by side and sharing cookies was fun too.. It was fun playing with you 3 times a week. As years went on we didn't play quite as hard but we always enjoyed being with each other. It was great when you taught me how to get into the pool and splash at your house. You were very nice and shared all your toys too. The last time I saw you I nuzzled you and tugged at your ears (like I always did) but you wouldn't respond. You were the best sister any dog could have! Luv Ya

We will forever have Dakota in our hearts. George will never forget when she would go through his legs. I will always remember that cute look begging for cookies after our morning runs. Dakota taught her little sister Bella everything she knows. Even when we go for runs now at the park Bella continues to look for her very best friend. The girls had such fun wrestling, sharing the water bucket, and running with such energy and speed that we often felt they would knock us down. Remember Dakota finding all the good morsels at the park after a weekend. Love you Dakota. You are truly missed.

I am so very sorry to hear about Dakota. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you are both feeling right now. She was very lucky to have you as her parents & you know she knew how much she was loved. There is nothing in the world more loyal than a dog. My favorite saying is, "Dogs are the only thing on the face of the earth that will love you more than they love themselves." My heart goes out to both of you. God bless you now at this difficult time.

Greg and Sue- Dakota never failed to make us smile when she greeted us. We are sorry to know that she has passed, but we know we are lucky to have known her. Our sympathies to you for the void her loss is for you both.

Thank you for sharing these pictures of Dakota's life. She was such a special and loving Dog and I very much miss seeing her as you and Greg would take her for her walks. When I would be in the front of the house working on music I would always see her stop and look over here to see if there was anyone out that she could come over and say hi too. More than a few times I would stop and come out so I could say hi to her also. She was kind of like the neighborhood Dog! She loved everyone and everyone loved her. I miss her very much.

I remember when Dakota was a puppy, and It doesn't seem that long ago. I remember meeting her as a puppy, and then I think she came to stay with us for a weekend with Aunt Suzy & Uncle Greg, and I remember thinking how fast she had grown. She was always fun to play with and such a beautiful dog! I'll definitely miss her. Hope everything goes well in the next couple of weeks 🙂

What an awesome web site. Dakota was so special! We enjoyed being a part of her life, getting kisses from her, taking care of her every once in a while, and just listening to all of your stories. Sue, before you would go out with me, you always had to walk Dakota and make the two of you lunch. She had her play dates and met lots of people on her walks around the neighborhood and at the dog park. What a GREAT MOTHER AND FATHER the two of you were. I know you both miss her a lot, but one day, I believe, you guys will see her again. She will be happy and whole. I LOVE YOU!

We are so sorry for your loss and thankful you got to spend some quality time with her before saying goodbye. Dakota was such a sweet, loving dog...we always enjoyed seeing her when we came to visit. She had a great life, one most other dogs would be envious of! Praying for you during this time, we love you!
